Roll-out of the surveillance service for specialty pharmaceuticals on a 24-hour and 365-day basis

SUZUKEN CO., LTD. (hereinafter, “the Company”) hereby announces that the Company and SECOM CO., LTD. SUZUKEN CO., LTD. (hereinafter, “the Company”) hereby announces that the Company and SECOM CO., LTD. (President and Representative Director: Yasuo Nakayama; hereinafter, “SECOM”) will cooperate to provide medical institutions rovide medical institutions and pharmacies with surveillance service for specialty pharmaceuticals on a 24-hour and 365-day basis.

Under the present circumstances, further reinforcement of the security and business continuity plan (BCP) systems for an emergency is demanded to handle a greater number of specialty pharmaceuticals for which strict temperature control is required and that are distributed in the market, including products with high medicine fees, and to prepare for an increasing number of natural disasters.

To cope with these issues, the Company and SECOM have jointly developed the new service by merging the SECOM’s security service rolled out across the country with the Company’s medical distribution platform.

The Company aims to provide specialty pharmaceuticals in a safe and reliable manner 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, even in the event of an emergency by combining the pharmaceutical traceability system Cubixx® 1 that uses IoT and RFID technologies and are provided by the Company especially for specialty pharmaceuticals with a personnel dispatch service and an electricity storage system to prepare for a power failure, which are provided by SECOM.

The Company and SECOM will advance a study on the development of new services capitalizing on the technological strengths and expertise of both companies.

1. Overview of the surveillance service for specialty pharmaceuticals on a 24-hour and 365-day basis

1) Temperature and inventory control for pharmaceuticals, and monitoring of pharmaceuticals to be taken out 
2) Backup power supply service with a storage battery to prepare for a power failure 
3) Personnel dispatch and reporting service with the SECOM’s security service to prepare for a power failure (on a 24-hour and 365-day basis) 
* This is a service for medical institutions and pharmacies that have adopted Cubixx. 

2. Start date of the service
June 2019 (scheduled)

The Cubixx is the traceability system that consists of a dedicated storage cabinet with RFID tags and IoT device and enables real-time and automatic monitoring of the stock, quality, control of storage and retrieval history, and security of individual pharmaceutical products. The system started operating in 2017.

3. Future prospects
The Company expects that this matter will contribute to improvement in the corporate value of the entire group in a medium-and long-term perspective, although it will rendera minor impact on their short-term performance.
